I need to plaster that quote all over my dorm room this year.
So I've come to my last day working in the STEM Center, and I'm kinda feeling sad about it! The two ladies that I've spent most of my time with are just lovely, and I will miss them quite a bit! Here's hoping I can work here next summer :)
I've just about come to the end of my summer at home, as well. Thursday I'll head back to school to train for my new job, just in time to melt in the 110+ degree heat up there, and then class will be starting before I even know it! Honestly, if I could have my perfect world, I'd be able to go to school and live close to home, but alas I can not, so I'll just have to be brave and deal with it. I am excited to see all my friends again, though, it's been far too long and I miss them dreadfully! Sheesh, I feel like all I ever do is miss people :/ that's what I get for going to school in a different state! Tonight, however, is a celebration! Since I won't be home for my birthday next week, we're celebrating tonight. Even my brother is leaving his mission stay (not a trip, they're staying in town) to come, and that's saying something!
Well, this has been an thoroughly sappy post so far :P In other news, last week was our family trip to Florida, and it was magnificent! Four, yes, FOUR days on the beach, including a boat ride, a trip to the Naval Air Museum, and one night camping on the beach with my dad! Not to mention time to spend with extended family that I don't get to see too often. The best news? I only got a very light sunburn, and that's truly impressive for one as white as I am. I'll have to post some pictures of Florida when I get the chance, because I took some very lovely ones; but it may be the weekend before I get around to it, what with moving states and jobs and all.
Now, for your entertainment update: Peter Jackson has officially announced that The Hobbit is now a trilogy!! You have no idea how excited I am for these three movies. Currently I'm re-reading The Hobbit, and then I'm going to start in on the LotR appendixes, and if I get really motivated, I'll read the Unfinished Tales or Book of Lost Tales. I might even make my, ahem...5th...attempt to read the Silmarillion.. I might even finish this time! But regardless, Jackson did such a fine job with the LotR, I'm quite confident that he can muster up 3 more good movies!

100+
This has been the hottest summer I can remember! This summer we have had 40+ days of 100+ degree temperatures! But not gonna lie, I don't really mind too much. I don't like the cold very much, so the heat is just fine with me!
One fun thing you can do when it gets this hot is bake cookies. I know, I know, bake in a hot kitchen when it's practically baking outside?! But actually, you can bake outside..........in your car! Just put the car in full sun and put the cookie sheet in the dash with all doors and windows sealed for about 2 hours, longer if it's not so hot, shorter if it's 109 like it has been here! Just a warning: they won't turn out brown and smooth like oven-baked cookies, so if you wait for them to turn brown you will have hard, dry cookies! They will still look like cookie dough, so just look for them to be mostly dry looking and check them if you're not sure. Just don't let too much heat out!
Thursday was my last day to watch the girls. I've been babysitting them for 2 years now almost every weekday for at least 2 hours, it's going to be strange to not see them! I am happy-sad, I am really going to miss them and all the random crazy things we did, but I am not going to miss trying to get them to practice piano and clean up their lunch dishes! I guess that's how life goes, eventually everything moves on!
I've also had my last day at the jewelry store Wednesday. I went in to teach the next girl how to maintain the books and file the paperwork, which took a long time because there are 2 programs and several steps for each transaction. The hardest part is putting each transaction in a category, such as supplies or utilities, because the list is a mess with extras and strange wording. The files are the same way; it's an adventure trying to figure out where to file something! Hopefully she'll be able to wade through the mess (which I did not create, I just inherited!) without too much trouble.
Now that I'm finished with all my jobs, I've got to find a new one! I've never had to apply for a job, because both the babysitting and the jewelry store jobs were given me by a recommendation, so I'm a little nervous about getting a job. I just hope I can find something that's not in food service or heavy people contact! (I'm not much of a people person)
The rest of the week has proved to be quite crazy! Yesterday, being my birthday and the wedding of my small group leader and the tax-free weekend, was rather hectic. I did get a way fancier party on my birthday than I could have ever had otherwise, lol!
Props if you actually made it to the end of of this post, I tend to ramble when I have a lot on my mind :)

Florida!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm in Florida! We came down here Monday and have gone to the beach every day since. It has been so much fun to be here in the summer. We usually come to visist our grandparents for Thanksgiving or Christmas. We still go to the beach, but there is so much more you can do when it is warm. I tried not to get a sunsburn, but I failed and now my back and shoulders are in pain
:( I am still having lots of fun. As my birthday was Wednesday, we were supposed to have a picinic by the bay with as many family members as possible (33, to be exact), but it raied so we re-located to our grandparents house. It has been great fun so far, but now I have to get off. I'll post again when we get back on Monday. Till then, goodbye!

Happy Birthday Phil!
Today is Philip's birthday, he is now 3! And, in our house, when you turn 3, you can eat chips. Every one of us has had to wait until we were 3 in order to eat chips, thanks to Dad who was sorta kidding when he made the rule that has now lasted around 17 years.
I can hardly believe how big Philip has gotten! He talks in complete sentences, he can count to 1o, he is almost completely potty trained, and he is just as cute as a button! We love you Phil!

On a more serious note, our youth group went on a ski trip and one of the freshman girls hit a tree on Monday and was seriously hurt. She hasn't been awake since the crash (they have kept her sedated), and they have done surgery twice to reduce swelling in her brain. Please pray for her, she is not doing very well.

Hello. So, back into the normal routine. It's nice to be back though, I missed people over the break. Class has started, choir has started. However, because I am working on some things with my voice, I am switching to Alto for a while. It is very different to sing harmony than melody. I was trying to pick out the melody and so I had to really work to sing the harmony. It is a good challenge though, I will hopefully get better at reading music.
Today is Dad's birthday. Happy birthday Dad!
Quote/Passage of the Day, from Oliver Twist
"I never heard of such a thing!" exclaimed the fat gentleman. "My dear Mrs. Maylie- bless my soul- in the silence of night, too- I (r)never¯ heard of such a thing!"
With these expressions of condolence, the fat gentleman shook hands with both ladies, and drawing up a chair, inquired how they found themselves.
"You ought to be dead; positively dead with the fright," said the fat gentleman. "Why didn't you send? Bless me, my man should have come in a minute; and so would I; and my assistant would have been delighted; or anybody, I'm sure, under such circumstances. Dear, dear! So unexpected! In the silence of night, too!"
The doctor seemed especially troubled by the fact of the robbery having been unexpected, and attempted in the nighttime; as if it were the established custom of gentlemen in the housebreaking way to transact business at noon, and to make an appointment, by post, a day or two previous.
I have enjoyed Oliver Twist a lot more than I expected. I like the writing style of Charles Dickens, sarcastic but not overly so.

13!
Wow, today we officially have 3 teenagers in our family. Nat turned 13 today, happy birthday Nat! He had a party last night that consisted of water, Bill Cosby and no sleep. Okay, maybe they got a few hours of sleep, but that's it. We also pulled out the chocolate fountain that we got for Jc's party in June. Since Nat was at camp when we got it we kept it a secret and surprised him with it last night. Overall, I think he and his friends had a good time.

17!
Happy Birthday Jc! Yesterday, the 4th, was Jc's 17th! I made a cake and we had a little "party" for her. Yay Jc!
So, our trip and "family gathering" was a lot of fun. Friday we mostly just hung around. Saturday morning we found some canoe's and paddled down a river. We also sat around at the pool (some of us swam but I decided not to) and in the afternoon a few of us put together a puzzle. It was two games in one, because we played hide and seek with several pieces before we started puzzling. They were hiding in other puzzle boxes. Some of the pieces were hopelessly lost though. Amazingly, I was one of the only people who avoided the torture of a sunburn.
Sunday we were packing up and just about to leave for the caverns when we learned that our cousin fell out of a truck and possibly broke his arm. So while our grandparents took him to the hospital the rest of us (aunts, uncles and cousins) went to Carlsbad Caverns. They were much cooler then the scorching 105 degrees out side and they were simply beyond description. I will have to post pictures at a later date. After we finished at the caverns we went to our grandparents 5th wheel and waited for 40 minutes outside with no cold drinks or shade (I will remind you it was 100+ out there) till my grandparents came back with our Casted Cousin. He had broken a bone in his arm, close to the wrist. We are praying that the arm will heal well.
We then went to Las Cruses and visited my great grandmother. On Tuesday, we drove home. Well, I have to go, I think we might be swimming now in the hurricane that seems to be blowing in.

Is it just me, or does anyone else have trouble coming up with a title for posts? I never can come up with one until the post is written.
Anyways, our Grandparents flew in today for a visit. We had a very belated Christmas and all got lots of very nice presents. I got a camera and I absolutely love it! I have wanted a camera for a long time and I am very excited to figure it out. I immediately started taking pictures, of course (I took 53 in about an hour or so).

We all had fun. On Monday my Grandparents are flying home and Dad is flying to New Orleans for a church conference of some sort. I don't know what it is for but it isn't a music conference. He will be gone the whole week.
It finally got cold again up here, it actually feels like winter again! It is especially cold at night. We got a light snow the other day. I still am not used to cold winters, it seems like it should be raining instead of snowing.
Well, I can't think of anything else of the slightest interest or value to people besides myself to say, so I shall depart!

Back Again
Well, were back again from our trip to Nac! Jc and I had a wonderful time! I would like to thank the Reeses for picking us up for the weekend and letting us stay in their home! Thursday after a nice drive to Nac with the Reeses we watched the medieval ball video. It is so funny to watch! The funniest part is definently the end during the freestyle!
After dinner we made cakes for the annual bake contest at the Harvest Party. Jc and I made a chocolate log cake with red roses on top and chocolate painted Camillia and Rose leaves (yes, the leaves were real). The chocolate was supposed to peal off the leaves but it wouldn't so we just put the whole leaf on. I ate a Camillia leaf at the party and it tasted pretty good (I will post pictures as soon as I get them)! Court and Gab made an apple cider spice cake. It was really pretty! They used white frosting and made little apples out of almond paste and covered the sides with nuts. It was absolutely gorgeous (it also tasted delicious)!
At the party Jc and I's cake won best taste and Court and Gab's cake won best presentation! Unfortunatley I didn't get a piece of our cake but Specter, you can ask your brother if you don't believe me. He was the one who cut the cake! Olivia M. won runner up with her beautiful pumpkin pie (I would say that it tasted good but I'm not a fair judge because I don't like pumpkin pie). On her pie she had cut out leaves from pie crust and brushed them with egg and arranged them on top. They looked very pretty.
Before the party we got to go to the first ever homeschool vs. Regents basketball game! We got there a little late and left a little early but what we did see was very good! Our team played hard and, even though they lost they played very well. There were a lot of people there to support them and we all got excited and cheered for the team! It was a lot of fun!
After the party the Reeses had a big sleepover at their house with a total of 11 girls. We played four on a couch and then watched The Love Letter and half of Pride and Prejiduce ( the one with Kiera Knightley). Unfortunately there were not enough beds downstairs so Bethany and I got stuck in Nick and Aaron's beds! I would rather not get stuck there again!
Well, overall we had a safe and fun trip! Once again, thank you so much Reese family! You have been so kind to us!

Home again
Hello, Hello! We're back from our weekend trip to New Mexico for my cousins 4th birthday! Happy Birthday Samantha! It was good trip and we got to see my grandparents, my cousins, my aunt and uncle and my great grandma. However the hotel's pool water had so much chlorine in it that it burned your eyes just sitting next to the pool! (that was sorta random, I know)
The scenery was, of coarse, just beautiful! Unfortunately we didn't see much on the way up there because we didn't leave our house till about 6 pm! On the return trip though, we got to see plenty. The car trip up wasn't much fun. It was cramped and dark most of the way and with 2 little ones you can just imagine what that was like. The car trip home was much more comfortable because dad drove a different car home (we got our great grandmothers old car) so there was an extra seat. However, dad had much different trip home.
Since he had to be back in time for church on Sunday he left Saturday afternoon. Well, on the way home the alternator in his car quit working so the battery rand down. And on top of the car troubles it was raining cats and dogs and the roads were flooded because of hurricane Erin! And we thought we were safe from hurricanes up here! So he had to wait out the storm and while doing so he missed church. Thankfully he was able to fix the car and got home Sunday.
Well, I must get back to school, so I will have to go.

14!
Sunday was happy day for me because it was my birthday! At youth that night I (and 4 other people) were recognized and then almost squashed to death because my youth minister had everyone else get a running start and give us a hug!
That night I opened presents and got some lovely beads and buttons from my family for making jewelry. My grandparents got me High school Musical, a scarf with fringe and the very necessary birthday shirt.
Yesterday mom made me an incredible chocolate cake with chocolate glaze and filling! She even got a flower from the garden to put on top! It was really yummy! It was also the cake I had picked out a few months ago to have!

So I know it's been a while since I last posted but really, nothing terribly exciting has happened till yesterday.
Yesterday was Mom's birthday! So Happy birthday Mom!
Also yesterday, Mom and jc picked up jc's friend who is visiting for a few days (she lives in Texas).
Monday jc is leaving for camp.
Other then that and besides school, nothing exciting has happened for a while. It seems like everything has slowed down for the summer. Even our youth program is taking a break!
Well, I need to get off now, so, good day!

Home!
So we're finally home! I am so tired from our trips that I didn't even dream last night! You'll never guess what happened yesterday so I'll tell you what happened.
My grandparents had brought a motor home and a pop-up trailer camping with them. So, on the way home my grandma drove their van in front while my grandpa drove the motor home with the trailer hooked to the back. Well, they were driving along and suddenly my grandpa heard a loud boom and so he pulled over to see what had happened. He saw flames in the engine and when he couldn't put them out he let their dog, Miky out and they took off running because they had just put gas in the motor home and plus there were two bottles of propane in the motor home.
Everything burned up. The motor home, the pop-up, all their clothes were burned, camping stoves and lanterns, 4 fishing poles, brand new tools, everything is gone. The car behind them called the police and then my grandpa called my grandma because she didn't know what had happened.
In about 20 min. the fire fighters were there and put out the fire which had also caught the grass on fire. Thankfully no one was hurt as far as I know. The Albuquerque news crew and helicopter came and the crash was on the news. If you want to see the story and watch the video, click here, the link will take you to the news website. I will try to post pictures if I can get some.
Well, besides the fact that that there was a huge fire, the camping trip was really fun. We went fishing in the Pecos river everyday but I never caught anything. However, by the end of the trip we had five rainbow trout so we grilled them for breakfast yesterday and they were SO good.
When we got home yesterday we had all sorts of surprises waiting for us. Dad got our pool ready to swim in and we are going to finally get to use it today. Yay! Also, he got his new tablet computer that he ordered for work and it is really neat. And, he is finally making my bed! I had wanted a loft bed since my room is pretty small and he is going to make it after he finishes my little sisters bed.
Whew! So much to tell and so little time to tell it! Oh yes, one more thing. Tuesday is jc's sweet sixteen so y'all wish her a happy birthday! We love you jc!

Well, I'm back. Actually I was back a long time ago but I forgot to post so I will recount the trip now. We had a great trip to our friends house and we did lots of things. We rode horses and watched movies and swam and bowled and skated and rode their motor scooter and made cream puffs and played with pictures on their computer. We watched a lot of movies, at lease 8 movies, and probably more. I had a great time, even though one of their horses stepped on my toe. It hurt a lot. Since my birthday has recently come to pass my friend got my birthday present. She got me Arwen's necklace that she gave to Aragorn! It is very pretty and it is almost exactly like though one in the movie, except for a few difference's that are so small you hardly notice. Of course it is not a pure silver necklace with real diamonds but it looks very nice. Well, I'm afraid that I must go now, so until later, goodbye.

nothing to say
My mind is blank, I can't think of anything to say except that I got my ears pierced on Saturday (for my birthday), but you probably don't want to hear about that, the only thing I will say is that it hurt. Well, I will post when there is something exciting to post.

Well I'm back
Well hello everyone. Yes, I am finely posting. I not posted for a while because I haven't really felt like it but I feel like it now so I guess I'll post. This last week was VBS at our church and I was in charge of six kids. ARGGGG! I had a very very tiring week. Now, I'm not saying that I didn't enjoy myself, in fact, I had a blast. I'm just saying that although I loved all the kids to death, I am glad I don't have to keep up with them any more. That's all. Well, last weekend I went to my friends birthday party and I spent the weekend with her and I had a blast! We swam a lot (she has a pool) and on Saturday night we never went to bed (or to sleep for that matter). I hope she had as much fun as I did. This Sunday I am going to camp! Yay! I can't wait! I have been looking forward to camp for a long time and I am sure that I will have a blast. I will tell you all about it when I get back. Well, I must be on my way, goodbye!
